How to automate sending one message one time to ~500 Facebook friends?

So, I want to send one message to about 500 Facebook friends one time. It's fine if messages are spread out over a few days. Rumor has it that you can send something like 10 messages an hour before Facebook suspects it's spam. Is there a way to automate that process without upsetting Facebook? I could throw all the intended recipients into a list of some sort, if that's what I need. I could come up with a few variations of the message, if that would keep Facebook happy.
