problem adding contacts to lists

Previously it was easy to add a contact to a list while editing that contact. Now you have to go to the list and add a contact by typing that contact name or address, but some of the contacts won't pull up that are in the contact list. Any suggestions? Can I go back to the old versions and simply edit a contact and add them to a list there?
