Should a web master chose Shopify?

I know how to create an e-commerce store on a server managed by me.
I don't know Shopify but it's clear that it is an hosted e-commerce solution.
Which are the reasons to choose Shopify? It is the choice of who have no knowledge to create their own store using, for example, a free e-commerce software?
Or Shopify offers things that make your e-commerce cheaper, easier and with more features?
