Trouble creating an account

I've had an AdSense account forever and a day under my gmail account. Several months ago I had to delete my gmail/google account and it's been to long to restore it. I created a new gmail/google account and have setup my analytics etc once again. I tried setting up a new adsense account but it tell me that I have an existing account and I must use that one or first delete it before they can create a new one for me.
